Exemestane is indicated only for postmenopausal women with specific types of breast cancer. It should not be used in premenopausal women.
Do not take exemestane if you:
• Are pregnant or may become pregnant
• Have a known hypersensitivity to exemestane or any of its ingredients
Exemestane can cause fetal harm. Females of reproductive potential should use effective contraception during treatment and for 1 month after the final dose. Do not breastfeed during treatment and for 1 month after the last dose.
Tell your provider if you have osteoporosis, low vitamin D levels, liver or kidney problems, cardiovascular disease, or if you take estrogen containing medications. Certain medications that strongly induce CYP3A4 may reduce exemestane levels and require dose adjustments.
Regular monitoring may include assessment of bone mineral density, liver function, and overall cardiovascular health. Use only as prescribed and do not combine with estrogen containing therapies unless directed by your provider.
