Low Dose Naltrexone should not be used in patients who are currently using opioid medications, are physically dependent on opioids, or are experiencing acute opioid withdrawal. It should not be used in individuals with acute hepatitis, severe liver disease, or a known allergy to naltrexone or any ingredient in the formulation.
Naltrexone can increase sensitivity to opioids after discontinuation, which may increase the risk of overdose if opioids are used. Do not attempt to override the opioid blocking effects by taking opioids.
Tell your provider if you have liver disease, abnormal liver function tests, depression, anxiety, a history of mood disorders, substance use history, kidney problems, or if you drink alcohol regularly. Inform your provider of all prescription, over the counter, herbal, and supplement products you are taking. Tell your provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
