Estradiol Cream | Topical Estrogen Therapy

• New breast lump, nipple discharge, or unusual vaginal bleeding

• Signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

Estradiol should not be used to prevent heart disease or dementia. Estrogen therapy, with or without progestin, has been associated with increased risks of blood clots, stroke, heart attack, breast cancer, and dementia in certain populations.

Women with a uterus who use estrogen alone may have an increased risk of endometrial cancer. A progestin may be prescribed to reduce this risk.

Do not use estradiol cream if you:

• Have a history of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack

• Have known or suspected breast cancer or estrogen dependent tumors

• Have liver disease

• Have unexplained vaginal bleeding

• Are pregnant or may become pregnant

Tell your provider if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol or triglycerides, migraines, depression, gallbladder disease, a family history of clotting disorders, or if you smoke. Inform your provider about all prescription, over the counter, and herbal medications you are taking.

Estradiol therapy requires ongoing provider oversight. Regular breast exams, pelvic exams, blood pressure monitoring, and laboratory assessments may be recommended. Apply only as directed to clean, dry skin and avoid transferring medication to others through direct skin contact. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with your treatment goals.
